The Konkan Fruit Fest has been an event that enjoys the support of the community in Goa over the last several years. With about 20,000 people visiting and enjoying the festival every year, it also clearly benefits from the support and interest of the community.

This year, we'd like to see if we can raise the funds needed to organise the festival (about Rs. 5,00,000) in a different way than usual - usually extensive government support. It is our conclusion that modest contributions from the people of Goa are sufficient to support the event, and we believe that this allows us to ensure that the event and its influence in preserving our food culture remains one that is of the people, by the people and for the people.

Hence we are seeking the support of 1000 of you, to make this possible.

All we need is a contribution of Rs 500 from 1,000 citizens (ideally, please make contributions by cheque in favour of the Botanical Society of Goa or write to us for instructions to make a NEFT/NetBanking transfer).

The Konkan Fruit Fest is not opposed to sponsorships, in fact it has benefited from the support from various departments of the Government of Goa since its inception.
But if the government, or a corporate sponsor can be expected to support events for the community, should it not be fair to consider whether the community can support events for itself?
